Will hormonal birth control relieve endometriosis back pain?

Topic:Symptoms
Affected areas:backpelvicabdominal

Hormonal birth control can lessen back pain when it’s driven by the menstrual cycle, because suppressing ovulation and bleeding often reduces inflammation and pelvic irritation. Many patients notice improvement when their pain reliably worsens before or during periods.

That said, hormonal therapy doesn’t remove endometriosis lesions, and it may not be enough if adenomyosis or deeper disease is contributing to your symptoms. If back pain persists on birth control, returns quickly when you stop it, or comes with other signs like heavy bleeding or severe cramping, our team can help evaluate the likely source and talk through options—including whether surgery may be a better fit for your goals.

Struggling with Back Pain?

Hormonal birth control may ease your cycle-related back pain, but persistent symptoms could mean deeper issues. Our specialists can assess your condition and tailor a treatment plan just for you.
